Your estimating spreadsheet is valuable IP
Years of pricing decisions live in that workbook. Here is how to protect and build on them.

An estimating workbook is not a disposable template. It holds years of rates, allowances and decisions about how this business prices work. That is intellectual property, even when it lives in a file named FINAL.
Keep the logic, lose the fragility
The useful part is the way you build a rate, compare a subcontractor and protect a margin. The fragile part is unlocked formulas, copied price lists and three versions of the same job. A rebuild keeps the first and retires the second.
Write it down before one person leaves
If only one estimator can change the file safely, the business does not own the system yet. Document the sheets, name the rate sources, and make the next quote possible for someone who did not build the workbook.
